Teapot

This project taps into the skills learned in prior assignments. Knowledge of handles is needed so students use skills from the Handle-making assignment and Mug assignment. A cover is necessary so they use skills learned from the covered container project. And finally, skills from the Assembled pot project are used in attaching the spout.

The teacher demonstrates how to make a large teapot body, spout, cover, and handle the first day. After a day of drying the parts are trimmed and assembled, being sure to illustrate how the parts need to work together in a teapot form (Long flange on cover to prevent it from falling out as it's poured, spout taller than body of pot, etc.)

After the demo, images of teapots are shown to illustrate the variety of shapes and sizes that are possible.
