Winter Landscapes

A really cool way of teaching Perspective concepts (linear as well as Atmospheric) by using Foreground, Middle ground and Background layering.

Students first divide their paper horizontally into 3 sections. Then the teacher leads them through mixing paint to give progressively darker sections. ("Cover section with white, then dip the tiny tip of your brush in blue and paint it on the white section. Rinse brush, paint next section white and add 2 brushfulls of blue, blend... Etc.)

Next they draw triangles for trees, making each one progressively smaller. The teacher leads them through the paint mixing exercise as they paint their tree shapes.

When everything is dry students rip the blue sections apart and glue them to the background paper. Instructions
