Drawing Simulated Texture

The texture unit starts out with texture rubbings. Next, students make texture in clay. And finally we draw simulated texture on paper with pencils.
Texture is discussed again with emphasis on how it LOOKS. Images of different textures are shown or actual textures like fur and scales and rough wood are passed around so students can feel the texture and see how it would be represented if we were to draw it.

The teacher leads the students in drawing various textures on the board while they draw on their paper. These textures include:
  • Grass
  • Cement
  • Fur/Hair
  • Wood
  • Fish Scales
