Circular template bowls

Students are shown how to make a circular template for pots. Paper circles and donuts are cut out and put together to illustrate the shapes that are possible.

Then a paper template is used to make a clay pot. The teacher demonstrates how to put the clay together to form the pot shape and how to add a base to the bottom. (Keeping in mind that the base slab should be indented slightly to ensure a stable foot.)

When finished, the pot is slightly bowed out to make a more "alive" or "organic" shape.
