Levitation

Levitation and how it relates to Catholic Saints is discussed briefly in class before starting this lesson.

Students are shown how to use layer masks to create a composite photo that makes it look as if a person or thing is levitating.

Students should use a tripod to take two pictures of the same place. One with the subject standing, laying, or sitting on a stool and the other without the subject in the picture. A layer mask is used to erase the stool so that the subject appears to float. See samples here.

Evaluation:
3 points -- Qualality of photos (both taken by you)
3 points -- Quality of photoshop effects (Shadows added, lighting corrected, removal of objects, etc.)
4 points -- Believability of the finished photo
