Chalk Experience -- Chalk Talk!

Using chalk to blend and form 3-d surfaces

Students are shown how easily chalk blends through a demonstration by the teacher. The teacher also illustrates how blending chalk can make drawings look 3-d.

Students are given a white square of paper first and instructed to have fun and see what they can make with the chalk.

A few minutes later they are given a black square of paper to experiment on. After a few minutes we discuss what worked well and what paper they liked best for chalk drawings.

Student fingers are messy and so are the tables to a certain extent so we clean up by having each table take turns washing their hands. Then they take the damp paper towel that they dried their hands with and use it to wipe down their spot on the table.
