Crayon Transfer print

As part of our print processes unit, students will learn about the process of transfer printing. This lesson is expands on the Carbon Paper lesson done previously.

The teacher demonstrates how to consistently color half of paper with crayons, using cross hatching and layering until the paper is completely covered with a good layer of wax.

Next, the colored side is folded onto the blank side and students draw lines or images onto the back of the colored side. When they open the paper they see an exact duplicate of their drawing on the blank paper, except the drawing has colored lines that correspond to the colors they laid on the other half of the paper.

A brief lesson about historical print processes and carbon paper is also done in class.
