Finger Ghosts

This lesson teaches students how to easily make small finger puppet ghosts out of clay.

The teacher demonstrates how to wrap clay around a finger, seam it together, and indent/impress eyes and a mouth. Emphasis is put on the fact that clay shrinks as it dries so students should wiggle their finger around inside the clay to make the inside larger so it still fits their finger after firing.

The ghosts are painted white with black eyes and mouths after firing.

This lesson can be done any time, not just around Halloween, because the art teacher, Mr. Kulzer, is missing a finger and believes he can feel the ghost of his finger sometimes. Thus the inspiration for this lesson.
