St. Patrick's Day Drawing

A quick lesson on St. Patrick's day and the folklore surrounding the "Emerald Isle" (Ireland) is covered with a set of images that can be used for inspiration.

The teacher demonstrates drawing on the chalk board starting with easy triangular shamrocks, and moving into shamrocks made with heart shapes. A Leprechaun hat is shown using only rectangles and squares. A 3-d leprechaun hat is demonstrated as well as a pot of gold, then the leprechaun body.

Other items that we may draw include:
  • Horseshoe
  • Rainbow
  • Leprechaun house
  • Leprechaun to draw for 1st grade.
Leprechaun to draw for 4th grade.

Each table has a variety of dark and light green crayons for students to use. As the teacher hands out paper, he asks, "What other things do you think could be drawn with green crayons?"

Students may choose to draw any of the tutorial images or things of their own choosing.
