Sea Horse Crayon/Watercolor Resist

Students are introduced to Sea Horses through a short video.

Next students are show now to draw a simple seahorse. The teacher draws on the board while students draw on their paper.

After the seahorse is complete students ink it with sharpie marker, then color it with crayon, pressing hard and trying to cover the entire seahorse with color, similar to Eric Carle's book.

Finally students use watercolor to paint over the entire page to see how the crayon resists the paint while also giving the drawing an "underwater" feel.
