Red White and Blue Pattern Pennant

The term "Veteran" is discussed in class and images of soldiers and Veteran's Day are presented to the students. Mr. Kulzer talks about the 9-ft. tall statues he helped make for the Fort Hood Hospital in Texas and relates that to how we remember our war veterans on this special day.

Images of how the United States Flag has evolved over the years are also shown.

The project starts out with a quick demonstration of the process to create our Red White and Blue Pennants.

Strips of paper are glued to a larger strip and, after the glue dries, the strips are curled.

Art Principles of Pattern and Repetition are discussed as related to the pattern of red, white and blue stripes being made into our penant.
