Holiday Decoration: Ornament Drawing

Students are shown various holiday decorations from around the world that correspond with various cultural holidays. Holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa are discussed and images shown of the celebrations and/or symbols for the holidays.

Next students are given a hand out where they can fill in a circular shape with an image of how they would decorate for their special holiday. It could be one of the major holidays we discussed in class or something more personal like a birthday.

OR they are given 3 ornaments to draw on, cut out, then, when finished they fold them in half and glue all 3 together. (Glue half of two together so that two sides are flat on the table while the glued sides stick straight up. Put a layer of glue on the flat one, face down, then add a loop of string and stick the first two on the glued one.)

OR glue the 3 pieces together then color each by folding it flat on the table.
