Lego Sculpture --A lesson in sharing and cooperation

Through a generous donation from our Parent Teacher Organization, ACGC Elementary students Kindergarten through 4th grade, are able to use Lego blocks to make temporary Sculpture Challenges in Art Class.

Substitute Instructions

Please set out 3 boxes of lego blocks for each table group. The lego boxes are in the cabinet behind my desk. There are a few empty boxes. Just leave them in the closet. (Click here to see a picture of the classroom layout.)

The schedule for classes is on the board. My first class comes in at 8:15. (Click here for an image of the schedule.

I usually gather everyone together at 10 minutes before the end of the hour to go through our Lego Sculpture Gallery. We put our lego sculptures on our tables, stand up, push in our chairs and follow the teacher around the room to look at each sculpture. When we get back to our spots, they need to take apart the sculptures and put all the pieces back into the boxes for the next class. I usually go around to ensure that they have taken everything apart and when a table is quiet and organized, I dismiss them to line up like art statues, silent and still.

Below are some examples of things kids have made. Click here for the full gallery of Lego sculptures done by students.

Please put the covers back on the lego boxes and return them to the cabinet behind my desk at the end of the day.

THANK YOU for your help today!
