2012 Lego Contest

2011 -- 2010

Scroll down to see pictures of Drew, Theo, Therese and my entries for the 2012 Lego Contest at the Meeker County Fair.
Each one of us took a prize in our age category.
Below is a picture of us at the fair after the awards were given.

Drew's entry was an alien ship with pods to capture and carry human prisoners. The two pods on the body of the ship were spaceships that could detach and fly around. He took 3rd in his age group.

Theo built a transformer space ship and landing pad. The two images below show it in spaceship mode and robot mode. Theo's entry tied with another kid's so the judges checked the 1st criteria on the judging sheets but it still was tied. They moved down to the third criteria, the written desctiption, before Theo took the lead by one point and won first place.

Therese built the Garden of Eden. The description page she's holding up says:
Adam and Eve live in a beautiful garden forest with lots of animals. I think Adam's favorite animal is a giraffe. I think Eve's is a puppy.
I made this creation of Adam and Eve in the Garden. Adam is getting a bucket of water from the well and Eve is picking fruit.
I like to build creations from the stories I hear so that I can play with the characters from the stories.

She got 2nd place in her age group.

And finally, my entry this year was a ball contraption. As you turn a crank, Lego balls are moved through the mechanism.
Since I was the only adult entering I took first place.
By clicking the picture below a new window will open with the video showing the movement of the machine. (it might take a bit to load so be patient.)
About halfway through the video you can hear Quinn ask if the air conditioner is on. Nice to have her little voice make an appearance.
